Year on year, workload is cited as the leading cause of stress at work and is attributable to 60% of employee stress according to the CIPD Health and Wellbeing report in 2022. Further, many argue that workload and working hours are increasing year on year as a result of socio-economic trends such as moves to hybrid working, 24-7 technology access and the cost-of-living crisis.
With levels of mental ill-health and stress at work continuing to rise, there is need for organisations to better understand how to reduce, or reduce the impact of, work demands and workload.
What we do about it
In this research we propose to take an evidence-based practice approach to best answer the question:
"How can we effectively manage the problem of heavy workloads?"
In January 2024 we will begin our systematic reviews and data collection from organisations, producing a report later in the year. Member organisations will receive a tailored report based on their organisational findings and needs.
